How to Perform a Clean Uninstall of Autodesk Products on Windows (2026)

When should you do a clean uninstall?

A clean uninstall is recommended when:

• Installation or upgrade attempts repeatedly fail
• Autodesk products won’t launch
• Licensing issues persist after reinstalling
• Autodesk Access reports incorrectly installed products
• You want to completely remove all Autodesk software before a fresh deployment

Warning: This process removes Autodesk applications, licensing components, installer services, registry settings, and cached installation data. Only use it if you intend to remove all Autodesk software from the machine.

Step 1 – Uninstall Autodesk Applications

Option A – Windows Settings (Recommended)

1. Avata Settings → Apps → Installed Apps.
2. Remove all Autodesk products.
3. Leave Autodesk Genuine Service installed for now.

Option B – Autodesk Uninstall Tool (Legacy Products)

For some older products, search for “Uninstall Tool” in the Start Menu and remove any Autodesk products listed there.

Note: Many Autodesk 2022+ products no longer rely on the legacy Uninstall Tool.

Step 2 – Remove Autodesk Installer Components

Remove ODIS (Autodesk Installer Service)

Navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AdODIS\V1

Right-click:

RemoveODIS.exe

Valitse Run as Administrator.

Remove Autodesk Licensing Service

Navigate to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\AdskLicensing

Run:

Uninstall.exe

as Administrator.

Remove Autodesk Identity Manager

Navigate to:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AdskIdentityManager

Run:

uninstall.exe

as Administrator.

Wait until the folder is empty before continuing.

Step 3 – Remove Autodesk Access (if installed)

Autodesk Access can now be removed separately:

1. Avata Settings → Apps → Installed Apps
2. Locate Autodesk Access
3. Valitse Uninstall

If running an older Access version, Autodesk recommends upgrading Access first, then uninstalling it.

Step 4 – Use Microsoft’s Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter

Download and run Microsoft’s troubleshooter:

• Choose Uninstalling
• Remove any remaining Autodesk entries
• Repeat until no Autodesk products remain

This is Autodesk’s preferred method for removing broken installer registrations and orphaned entries.

Step 5 – Delete Autodesk Residual Files

Clear Temporary Files

Open:

%temp%

Delete all contents you can safely remove.

Skip any files currently in use.

Delete FLEXnet Licensing Files

Browse to:

C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet

Delete files beginning with:

adsk*

One file may be hidden.

Remove Autodesk Folders

Delete the following if they still exist:

C:\Ohjelmatiedostot\Autodesk

C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk

C:\Program Files (x86)\Yleiset tiedostot\Autodesk Shared

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk

%APPDATA%\Autodesk

For AutoCAD products specifically, Autodesk also recommends removing product-specific folders under:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\<Product>

%APPDATA%\Autodesk\<Product>

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\<Product>

Step 6 – Remove Autodesk Registry Keys

Export a registry backup before making changes.

Open:

regedit

Remove:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk

If you’re in a managed IT environment, follow your organisation’s registry change procedures.

Step 7 – Uninstall Autodesk Genuine Service

Only after all Autodesk products, files and registry entries have been removed:

1. Avata Settings → Apps
2. Uninstall Autodesk Genuine Service

If it refuses to uninstall:

• Run the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter again.
• Ensure all Autodesk folders have been removed first.

Autodesk specifically notes that Genuine Service may not uninstall successfully until every Autodesk component has been removed.

Step 8 – Restart Windows

Restart the workstation and verify:

• No Autodesk applications remain in Installed Apps
• Autodesk Access is removed
• Autodesk Licensing Service is gone
• Autodesk Genuine Service is removed
• Autodesk folders no longer exist in Program Files or ProgramData
