Catch up on the latest in the YouTube series delving into key features of Digital Asset Integration solutions.
Firstly, we introduce Accruent’s cloud-based Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solutions, Maintenance Connection, which optimises your asset maintenance processes through proactive maintenance.
This comprehensive multi-site CMMS allows project teams to streamline maintenance processes by moving to proactive maintenance management, reducing downtime and lowering maintenance costs.

Maintenance Connection saves time by giving you access to the right information when and where you need it. Improve the utilisation of your most important asset: your maintenance technicians. Using Maintenance Connection’s mobile solution, MC Express, maintenance teams can avoid extra trips back to the office and eliminate the need for printouts. Maintenance teams can use mobile devices to manage work orders and call up relevant asset documentation, increasing productivity and speeding time to repair. They are able to build an asset and work order histories that provide insight to help improve performance.
Work Order Management
Watch the first video in this series on Digital Asset Integration Solutions which focuses on the “work order” feature within our chosen Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) – Maintenance Connection, on-premise and mobile app.
Pentagon’s BIM Consultancy Director, David Gawley, demonstrates moving between the desktop version to the onsite mobile app to manage a work order seamlessly.
Adding an Asset
In the second video of the Digital Asset Integration Series, let’s take a look at adding an asset in Maintenance Connection – the leading CMMS and EAM Solution from Accruent. We’ll look at some asset documentation how we add in preventive maintenance information, and finally how we access this through a mobile device.
Meridian Search
In this short video, we’re going to have a look at searching for documents in an engineering document management system, via metadata and content within the document. We’re going to use Accruent’s Document Management System – Meridian. The interface we’re going to have a look at is the Meridian power web client and it’s typical of what a facility owners’ environment will look like because it’ll have thousands of documents and records from models, drawings, PDFs, images and work orders. Meridian manages all these documents with change management workflows, and revisions, and even integrates with the likes of asset management systems, to name a few features.
Meridian Hotspots
In this video, we’re going to have a look at hotspots in Accruent’s Meridian: a document management system or common data environment. A hotspot essentially makes a connection between different documents without opening the file up. So we will be using the Power User Desktop Client to create a hotspot that will make connections in the viewer to other documents.
What is the Difference Between CMMS and EAM?
Though the terms CMMS and EAM are often used interchangeably – and many CMMS systems like Maintenance Connection offer EAM-level features and capabilities, there are some key distinctions between CMMS and EAM systems to keep In mind. Computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS), on one hand, were created primarily to manage assets during the operational part of the asset lifecycle. EAM systems, on the other hand, were created to provide more comprehensive facility management from acquisition to disposal. This wider scope of functionality makes an EAM a more robust tool as it includes functionalities – like labour management and vendor management – that you won’t find in a traditional CMMS. With Maintenance Connection, you get the best of both worlds!
FAQs
What is Maintenance Connection and how does it benefit asset maintenance?
Maintenance Connection is a cloud-based Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution by Accruent. It enhances asset maintenance by enabling proactive maintenance management, which helps reduce downtime and lower maintenance costs. It streamlines processes across multiple sites and improves efficiency by providing mobile access to work orders and asset documentation.
How does the mobile solution MC Express improve maintenance operations?
MC Express, part of Maintenance Connection, allows maintenance teams to manage work orders and access asset documentation directly from mobile devices. This reduces the need for physical printouts and extra trips back to the office, thus increasing productivity and speeding up repair times. It also helps build comprehensive asset and work order histories for better performance insights.
What is the difference between CMMS and EAM systems?
While both CMMS and EAM systems manage asset maintenance, they differ in scope. CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) focus primarily on managing assets during their operational lifecycle. EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) systems, like Maintenance Connection, offer a broader range of functionalities, including labor and vendor management, covering the entire lifecycle of the asset from acquisition to disposal.
How does Accruent’s Meridian Document Management System enhance document management?
Accruent’s Meridian Document Management System helps manage large volumes of documents and records, such as models, drawings, PDFs, and work orders. It includes features like change management workflows, version control, and integration with asset management systems. The system also offers tools for efficient document search and the creation of hotspots to connect related documents without opening them.
How does integrating Meridian with asset management systems help facility owners?
Integrating Meridian with asset management systems links documents with asset information, streamlining workflows and reducing search time. This ensures that documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible, supporting better decision-making and operational efficiency.
