In the second video of the Digital Asset Integration Series, let’s take a look at adding an asset in Maintenance Connection – the leading CMMS and EAM Solution from Accruent. We’ll look at some asset documentation how we add in preventive maintenance information, and finally how we access this through a mobile device.
In this short video, we’re going to have a look at searching for documents in an engineering document management system, via metadata and content within the document. We’re going to use Accruent’s Document Management System – Meridian. The interface we’re going to have a look at is the Meridian power web client and it’s typical of what a facility owners’ environment will look like because it’ll have thousands of documents and records from models, drawings, PDFs, images and work orders. Meridian manages all these documents with change management workflows, and revisions, and even integrates with the likes of asset management systems, to name a few features.
In this video, we’re going to have a look at hotspots in Accruent’s Meridian: a document management system or common data environment. A hotspot essentially makes a connection between different documents without opening the file up. So we will be using the Power User Desktop Client to create a hotspot that will make connections in the viewer to other documents.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CMMS AND EAM?
Though the terms CMMS and EAM are often used interchangeably – and many CMMS systems like Maintenance Connection offer EAM-level features and capabilities, there are some key distinctions between CMMS and EAM systems to keep In mind. Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), on one hand, were created primarily to manage assets during the operational part of the asset lifecycle. EAM systems, on the other hand, were created to provide more comprehensive facility management from acquisition to disposal.
