COBie: How to Get Started with Power BI

COBie is key for the client to receive as a deliverable and for other stakeholders to feed in the necessary information derived from the model.

What is COBie? Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) is a non-proprietary data format for the publication of a subset of building information models (BIM) focused on delivering asset data as distinct from geometric information.

This short video will show you how to use Power BI to help visualize the relationship between the different sheets that already exist inside the COBie schema. The COBie schema is there to help deliver structured information, and as such these relationships are key to maintaining those outputs. This is in line with the BS1192: Part 4 Standard which outlines the UK usage of COBie. This code of practice defines expectations for the exchange of information throughout the lifecycle of a Facility.

Too often BIM consultants only can deliver a small part of the process due to a lack of expertise. Pentagon is truly unique when it comes to BIM as we can provide BIM authoring technology, training, Common Data Environments (CDE’s) and BIM implementation & project services. We also have a development team that write integrations from BIM Authoring systems to CDE’s and into Facilities Management (FM) systems.
